Aziz Haruna Futa, the National Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed that the Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif has proposed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to kick out Black Stars coach, Otto Addo.
Otto Addo has come under heavy criticism for failing to qualify the team to the 2025 Afcon scheduled to come off in Morocco next year.
Ghana secured just three points from their six matches in Group F, which included Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
The bad performance in the qualifiers left Ghana bottom (4th) of Group F with just three points.
In the aftermath of the recent crunch meeting to access Otto Addo’s technical report, the GFA are yet to take a final decision on the coach’s future.
However, Haruna Futa who is a former management member of Hearts of Oak in an interview with Happy FM disclosed that the Sports Minister has charged the FA to remove Addo as head coach due to the team's abysmal performance in the qualifiers.
“It is the government that pays Otto Addo and that is taxpayers’ money but on that, the government cannot sack Otto Addo,” he said.
“The only thing the government can do is to advise the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to sack Otto Addo and the Minister (Mustapha Ussif) has done that,” he added.
Otto Addo was hired in March this year on a three-year contract, replacing Chris Hughton.
