GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has revealed that Ghana’s infrastructure challenges played a role in Carlos Queiroz’s decision to step down as Black Stars head coach.

The Portuguese trainer resigned after Ghana’s poor start to the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, with defeats to Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.

According to Asante Twum, the experienced trainer was also concerned about the conditions under which the national team operates.

“One of the reasons Carlos Queiroz left his role is the lack of infrastructure in the country,” Asante Twum told Kessben FM.

“He was surprised that the Black Stars do not have a camp base and that the same stadium is used for both training and matches.

“He believes this affects the team and the quality of the pitch. We currently have only one approved stadium.”

Carlos Queiroz resigned last week after a difficult spell in charge, and the GFA has since formed a five-man committee to search for a new Black Stars coach.
