Ex-Ghana international, Laryea Kingston has advised Chris Hughton to maintain majority of the current Black Stars team in order to build a formidable side.

The Ghana Football Association have been in the hunt for a new head coach for the Black Stars since Otto Addo resigned after Ghana's 2022 World Cup group stage exit in Qatar.

Chris Hughton was named as the new Black Stars head coach to replace the Borussia Dortmund trainer over the weekend.

Before his new appointment, Chris Hughton was the Black Stars technical advisor since last February.

The former Tottenham Hotspur gaffer is expected to lead Ghana in the qualifiers for the 2023 African Cup of Nations double header against Angola in March.

Laryea Kingston has urged Chris Hughton to keep the core of the team that went to the World Cup in order to build a strong team.

"I think 70 per cent of the players that played at the 2022 World Cup must be maintained by Chris Hughton," Laryea said on Joy News.

"We need these players to be able to build a formidable team and I am sure Hughton will do that," he added.
