The Black Queens continued their impressive run at the Pink Ladies Cup with a commanding 4-0 victory over Russia, extending their perfect start to the tournament as preparations intensify for the upcoming WAFCON.
Ghana wasted no time asserting dominance, and it took just eight minutes for US-based midfielder Stella Nyamekye to break the deadlock with a powerful finish inside the box.
The Queens doubled their lead in the 17th minute through Doris Boaduwaa, who unleashed a rocket after a swift counterattack.
Boaduwaa struck again in the 33rd minute, calmly completing her brace and effectively sealing the result before halftime and that marked her third in the tourney.
Despite creating several clear chances after the break, Ghana could only just a goal to the score and once again it was Ajegipina Zakaria who came off the bench to seal the win with two minutes to full-time.
The Black Queens now boast two wins in two games, scoring eight goals and conceding none, having opened their campaign with a dominant 4-0 win over Hong Kong.
The performances so far underline the team’s sharpness and readiness as they continue to prepare towards the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations later this month in Morocco.
Ghana will return to action on March 6, when they face Tanzania in their final game of the tournament.
