Ghanaian champions Bibiani GoldStars have started the GHALCA Top 4 tournament on a blistering note having come from behind to beat giants Asante Kotoko by 1-2 at the University of Ghana Stadium in the opening game of the competition.

The game was a very balanced one having shifted to either side at certain point but it was the Miners that made good use of their chances to run out with all three-points in the end.

The Porcupine Warriors opened the scoring account in just sixteen minutes from kickoff courtesy Albert Amoah who scored cleanly after picking up a pass from his skipper Samba O’Neil.

Just three minutes later, GoldStars did some great team build-up which eventually got them a penalty after Samba mis-calculated his run and fouled an opposition player in the box.

Goalkeeper Mohammed Camara despite proving to be an expert when it comes to stopping penalty kicks recently, failed to deny Samuel Atta Kumi who converted beautifully to draw his side back on level terms.

In the second half, both teams bounced back stronger but honestly it was Kotoko that were slightly ahead but GoldStars also looked very well-organized at the back.

However, in the 62nd minute, a huge clanger at the back got Bibiani GoldStars their second goal to lead for the first time in the game after a miscommunication between Henry Ansu and goalkeeper Mohammed Camara.

Despite firing from all cylinders in search of the equalizer, the Reds failed to score again as it finished 1-2 after full-time.

Bibiani GoldStars will look for their second straight when they face Hearts of Oak next, while Asante Kotoko will also butt heads with Heart of Lions in the second round of matches all on Friday, August 22.
