Medeama SC’s in-form midfielder Prince Owusu has earned a call-up to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.

The 20-year-old midfield dynamo has been rewarded for his consistent displays in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, where he has been a driving force behind Medeama’s strong start to the campaign.

Owusu, who made his senior international debut against the Central African Republic in the penultimate 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, has continued to impress with his blend of composure, energy, and tactical awareness in midfield.

A naturally left-footed playmaker, Owusu has developed into one of the most dependable midfielders in Ghana’s top flight. His work rate, passing range, and positional discipline have been crucial to the Mauve and Yellow’s push for the title, with Medeama currently sitting second, just one point behind league leaders Aduana FC.

Last season, he featured in 22 league matches, contributing one goal and two assists, while orchestrating play from deep with remarkable maturity. His steady progression has now placed him among the standout home-based talents vying for regular national team recognition.

Owusu joins a strong Ghana midfield unit featuring Thomas Partey and Kwesi Sibo for the two-match Asian tour. The Black Stars will take on Japan at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi on Friday, November 14, 2025, before facing South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The upcoming friendlies will provide the young midfielder another chance to prove his international credentials and push for a permanent place in Otto Addo’s squad ahead of Ghana’s fifth FIFA World Cup appearance in 2026, to be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
