Ghana's Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif as promised, made his presence felt at the Aboabo Middle B Park last Saturday in the final of the 27th Ashanti Regional Inter-Zango Community Football Tournament held last Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Aboabo Middle B Park.
Sepe Timpom emerged victorious in the end after snatching a slim 1-0 win over Kantudu in an exciting and crunchy final to win the competition for the first time in their history.
In the course of the game, Sepe Timpom were awarded a penalty after Neymar was played through with a good mirror pass by Elano and in an attempt to get into it, he was subsequently brought down in the box by goalkeeper Sammy Onana.
Skipper of the side Akwesi 'Kokoo' famously known as Lampard, stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give Sepe Timpom the lead and netted his fifth in the tournament and that was enough to hand them the precious win.
The 2007 champions attacked with so much purpose in the closing stages in search of the equalizer but all their hardworking efforts proved futile as the scoreline stayed 1-0 until full time.
The game was graced by lots of dignitaries in the region and the special guest of honor was the Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Mustapha Ussif who gave out certain amount of cash to the Zango Football Federation President Mohammed Murtala Ibrahim, famously known as Prince Akuter, to support the competition.
The trophy and other individual awards was also provided by 'Sarkin Adini' Alhaji Chief Dawood Akanni Mohammed Agbeniga. Former UEFA Champions League winner Ibrahim Tanko and New Edubiase FC bank-roller Abdul Salam Yakubu (Sabato), were all present.
