Black Stars duo Mohammed Salisu and Gideon Mensah finally made their debuts at the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday night in defeat to Cape Verde.
The Blue Sharks exhibited a five-star performance to defeat Ghana by 2-1 in an epic Group B encounter at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium.
Jamiro Monteiro opened the scoring account on the 16th minute, Alexander Djiku equalised in the second half before Garry Rodriguez scored at the death to seal the win.
Mohammed Salisu, who debuted for in September 2022, Gideon Mensah all had the opportunity to play at their first ever AFCON and lasted the entire duration but didn't end well and will hope to bounce back stronger in the subsequent matches.
The Black Stars are currently without a point and will need a win at all cost against Egypt in the second round of matches. A defeat will see them exit the competition.
