Football administrator Fitzgerald Barkers Woode has called for an investigation into the alleged visa scandal involving Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Barkers Woode, popularly known as Nana Fitz, wants all officials linked to the case to be interdicted while investigations are carried out.

The controversy emerged after the US Embassy reportedly raised concerns about visa applicants linked to the National Sports Authority (NSA) over alleged inconsistencies in their personal and employment details. The issue led to the suspension of NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

Nana Fitz has called for a committee to investigate the matter, identify those responsible and ensure they are held accountable.

Speaking to Graphic Sports, he also urged the government to consider dissolving the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and introducing a new law to reform football administration, even if the move leads to FIFA sanctions.

“The government must write to FIFA to explain to them that we want to dissolve the current FA for reforms in the football sector, and this is the only way we can save our football because what is happening now is pathetic,” he stated.

He also questioned the lack of accountability in football finances, arguing that taxpayers who support the national team deserve to know how public funds are spent.

“Is FIFA aware that the taxpayer pays the FA and the Black Stars, but they don’t want accountability? This is not fair. I call this taxation without representation,” he said.

Nana Fitz has also urged the GFA not to rush the appointment of a new Black Stars coach following the departure of Carlos Queiroz.

He believes the association should take its time to find a coach who understands Ghanaian football, local conditions and the country’s style of play.

He said this knowledge would help the team achieve better results.
