Former Black Stars striker, Nii Odartey Lamptey is very optimistic Ghana will perform well at the 2023 AFCON if they are able to regroup early and prepare themselves adequately well for the competition.

Odartey, played the Black Stars for a period of five years and was an integral member of the 1992 AFCON squad that lost the final to Cote D'Ivoire via penalty shootouts.

The four-time African champions secured their tenth straight AFCON qualification and are hoping to end the country's over fourty-year trophy drought.

Ghana have been placed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.

Speaking in a latest interview, the ex- Aston Villa and Anderlecht forward stated the current squad is a blend of experience players and youthful exuberance and is very confident with right preparations, Ghana will pull surprises and win ultimate.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Cote D'Ivoire on January 13, 2024.
