The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has given its approval for the club to participate in a high-profile international friendly against Major League Soccer (MLS) side DC United. The match is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Audi Field in Washington DC.
This annual ceremonial match, organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the GFA, is a highlight of the Ghana Week DC 2024 festivities. The event is designed to celebrate Ghanaian culture in Washington, D.C., and the matchup between Asante Kotoko SC and DC United will be a centerpiece of this celebration.
Asante Kotoko SC, one of Ghana's most storied and well-followed football clubs, will take on DC United at the state-of-the-art Audi Field in Buzzard Point, Southwest Washington D.C.
This marks the second time a Ghanaian Premier League club will travel to the United States to face an MLS side, following Medeama SC's 2-1 loss in a similar friendly on October 14, 2023.
