Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has emphasized his focus on the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola, rather than speculating about Ghana's chances for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a press conference held at the Ghana Football Association’s headquarters on August 29, 2024, Addo responded to questions about Ghana's potential World Cup bid by stating that his immediate priority is the match against Angola.
“It would be a mistake to look too far ahead. My current focus is on preparing for Angola, as they are a challenging side. That’s where my attention lies right now,” Addo said.
Ghana will host Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on September 5, 2024, and then travel to Morocco to face Niger on September 9.
Addo's concentration on the AFCON qualifiers underscores the importance of these upcoming games as the Black Stars aim to secure their place in the continental tournament.
