Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has underscored the need for better football facilities in Ghana, emphasizing that high-quality pitches are essential for the team’s success.

During a press conference on Thursday, August 29, Addo expressed concern over the current condition of the pitch at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where the Black Stars are set to face Angola on September 5 in a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

“It is concerning because, to play the way we want, we need a good pitch,” Addo said. “Discussions are ongoing about how we can improve the situation. We want our players to excel, which means we must ensure the pitch is prepared as well as possible.”

Addo also called for the development of more football facilities across the country, highlighting the long-term benefits for Ghanaian football. “We need to enhance our facilities and increase opportunities for play. More stadiums in different parts of the country would significantly improve the quality of football,” he added.

The Black Stars will follow their match against Angola with another qualifier against Niger on September 9, as they continue their quest to secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
