Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has acknowledged the challenging nature of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, August 29, in Accra, Addo revealed his squad for the crucial matches while cautioning that the games will not be easy.
"The next games are going to be tough because everybody expects us to win," Addo said, emphasizing the high expectations following Ghana's recent victories in the World Cup qualifiers.
Addo also addressed the absence of key players such as Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey, explaining that his decisions are focused on long-term team development. "We are looking at long-term development, and that's why we decided last time not to invite Andre Ayew. Daniel Amartey is a bit of the same," he noted.
Ghana is set to face Angola on September 5 and Niger on September 9, 2024, in what are expected to be closely contested matches as the Black Stars aim to secure their spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
