Tragedy struck Ghanaian football on February 2, 2025, when Nana Pooley, a passionate Asante Kotoko supporter, was fatally stabbed during the club’s match against Nsoatreman.

What started as an on-field altercation between players escalated into chaos in the stands, leading to Pooley’s tragic death.

Following the incident, the Ghana Police Service launched an extensive investigation, resulting in multiple arrests, including that of Nsoatreman owner Ignatius Baffour-Awuah. In a major breakthrough, Kotoko’s lawyer, Sarfo Duku, has revealed that police have now identified the individual responsible for the stabbing.

Speaking to reporters after a court appearance, Duku disclosed that police documents and statements from the suspects all point to a man named Braimah as Pooley’s killer. However, the suspect remains at large.

"One person is still at large. He’s called Braimah, and according to the police, based on their findings, he is the one who actually stabbed the deceased," Duku stated.

"In fact, according to the police report, which is now public, all the accused persons have admitted that it was Braimah—who is currently on the run—who stabbed Pooley to death."

As the search for Braimah continues, the Kotoko family and the broader football community came together to honor Pooley’s memory. On Sunday, February 16, 2025, the club held a one-week memorial celebration, drawing fans from various Ghana Premier League clubs who paid their respects to the fallen supporter.
