Police Ladies defeated Northern zone champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies 2-0 to win their first-ever Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday.
The game, played under heavy downpour, saw both teams press for a win to cap a successful campaign. Jane Ayieyam scored in the 27th minute after a dominant first half.
Victoria Teye Williams sealed the win with a goal in the 89th minute, making it a night to remember for Police Ladies. This historic win marks a significant milestone for the team, ending Ampem Darkoa's dominance in the league.
Notably, Ampem Darkoa Ladies had previously enjoyed success against Police Ladies, such as in the 2017 Super Cup, where they won 2-0. However, in this season's Women’s Premier League final, Police Ladies emerged victorious on May 18, 2025.
The win earns Police Ladies a spot in next season's CAF Women’s Champions League qualification phase.
