The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association have handed a hefty ban to referee Franklin Akumatey following his awkward display in GPL match-day 13 clash between Bibiani GoldStars and Asante Kotoko.

The champions in that fixture, played out to a thrilling 1-1 stalemate with the Miners at the Dun's Park- in a tie the performance of the match officials were really below par and sparked so much rage everywhere in the country.

The center-man awarded two controversial penalties to GoldStars in the game with goalkeeper Frederick Asare rising to the occasion to deny but wasn't lucky with the first to aid Kotoko runout with a point from Bibiani.

The astonishing part is that, the first penalty given to the homesters went off the hand of their own player and had to be a foul against them instead, but rather it was awarded to them.

With this, the entire Kotoko fraternity really got anxious and threatened to drag the referee to the country's highest football governing body.

Fast-forward, the Ghana FA opened an investigations into the issue and have found referee Franklin Akumatey guilty and have handed him a ten game ban in the topflight.

He's also been demoted  to the Division One League where he will stay for the remainder of the season for now.
