The Ghana Football Association (GFA) officially approved the appointment of Winfried Schäfer as the new technical advisor of the Black Stars, Ghana's senior men’s national football team, following a recommendation by the Executive Committee, Kickgh.com understands.
Schäfer will receive a significant monthly salary of $65,000, according to Kumasi-based Pure FM.
Puzzled by the appointment, Ghanaians have been seeking clarity on the contract terms agreed upon between the GFA and representatives of the newly appointed technical advisor, a German national.
He will be joined by Kris Perquy as the new psychologist, Gregory De Grauwe as the video analyst, and Black Satellites' Desmond Ofei, who replaces Joseph Laumann as the first-team assistant coach.
Ghana failed to qualify for the Afcon 2025 scheduled to kick off later this year. The team will now focus on the World Cup qualifiers set to resume in March, the Black Stars are second in Group I with nine points - Ghana will take on Chad and Madagascar.
