The Ohene Gyan Stadium has been shut down by the National Sports Authority and won't be available for any football game until January next year.

The 2022/23 GPL season is set to resume in few weeks time, but the NSA have decided to close the stadium down for renovation with the pitch currently in a very bad state.

However, other speculations are that, the closure wasn't mainly because of the rehabilitation but is to be rented out to organisations and musicians for events and concerts in this festive season.

This decision means three clubs headed by giants Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics and Accra Lions will have to find a new venue to relocate.

The 'Phobians' per reports will adapt the Cape Coast Stadium as their new home grounds when the league returns whiles the Wonder Club and Lions are also reported to move to Sogakope.

The league which is currently on temporal break will resume on Monday, December 19, 2022.
