Brighton and Hove Albion defender, Tariq Lamptey has completed his nationality switch to play for Ghana ahead of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The Black Stars have been drawn to face Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Group H.

 

Lamptey, 21, arrived in Ghana to spend time with his family and was at the Cape Coast stadium to watch the Black Stars 2023 AFCON qualifying match against Madagascar on Wednesday.

 

The London-born defender who has two England Under-21 caps, qualifies for Ghana through his parents and has also played for England Under-18s and Under-19s.

 

According to grapevine sources, the top hierachy of the Ghana Football Association have had crunch discussion with the player and his representatives and would be name in Coach Otto Addo's 2023 AFCON qualifiers double-header clash against Angola in September.

 

Lamptey, who is a former Chelsea full-back - started 16 times for Brighton in the Premier League in the 2021-22 season and made a further 14 appearances as a substitute.
