Dependable defender Alexander Djiku is currently the only player who is yet to join the Black Stars camp ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic.

The bulky guardsman since switching nationality to play for Ghana for almost three years ago has been very impressive and consistent and only has injuries as reasons he's missed out on call ups on some few occasions.

Almost all 26 players invited by head coach Otto Addo have arrived including starboy Kudus Mohammed, current captain Thomas Partey, Mohammed Salisu and others.

However, Turkish-based Alexander Djiku hasn't arrived yet and was not seen at the team's training session earlier this mid-afternoon at the University of Ghana Stadium.

In an interview, Ghana FA Spokesperson Henry Asante Twum has confirmed it is due to the fact that, Djiku sustained an injury in his club Fenerbahce's last game and is being assessed at the moment but are still expecting him to join camp any moment from tomorrow.

"Alex Djiku is yet to join the Black Stars due to an injury he picked in their final game. The team doctors got in touch with the club, and they communicated that they would want to observe him for a day or two before he joins the Black Stars camp," Henry Asante Twum told Happy FM

Ghana are scheduled to travel to Bamako on Tuesday, June 4, for the game against Mali and will return to host Central African Republic on June 10, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
