Former GFA Communications Director, Ibrahim Saanie Daara has pinpointed some aspects in the current Black Stars team that needs to be improved and believes they will make at least semi final of the 2023 AFCON if that is checked.
The four-time African champions confirmed their spot in the next Africa Cup of Nations after beating Central African Republic 3-1 in their final group game of the qualifiers last Thursday in Kumasi.
The win didn't only secure them qualification but propelled Ghana to finish as winners of Group E with 12 points and recorded a smooth unbeaten run in the campaign.
In an interview on Warm-up + on TV3, Saanie Daara said the attacking department in the team should be improved so as the left side of defence and is very optimistic Ghana will at least reach the semi final if that is done.
"The team that we saw in Kumasi is cut for us to be able to vie for the title in Ivory Coast. Yes we have been rocked with lots of injuries but we honestly also need to admit there are certain part of the team that needs to be augmented for us to be title challengers."
"If we are able to do that, particularly in our attacking department and the left side of defence. If we are able to get it right, I'm confident that we can get to at least to the semi final of the AFCON."
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is slated for early next year in Cote D'Ivoire.
