FIFA referee Julian Nii Akwa Nunoo has been adjudged the best referee of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season at the just-ended Ghana Football Association (GFA) Awards in Accra.
Nunoo, who commenced his refereeing career at age 17, was crowned the best referee of the last season's Premier League by the country's football governing body.
The 32-year-old was rewarded by the Ghana Football Association for his stupendous output in the entire season with a brand new Hyundai Elantra worth thousand of cedis and plaque.
Nunoo is currently among the top referees in West Africa recognized by CAF and he recently officiated the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup prelimanry round first leg tie between ASC Kara of Togo and Académie Football Amadou Diallo from Côte D'Ivoire
He is the son of retired FIFA referee Thomas Nunoo.
The event which took place at tbe University of Professional Studies auditorium in Accra saw Vincent Atinga of Medeama SC winning the best player of the season and Accra Lions' youngster Abass Samari Salifu as the discovery of the season.
