Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer has urged newly appointed Sports Minister Kofi Adams to closely monitor Black Stars squad selections amid ongoing concerns about undue influence in player call-ups.

Adams was officially sworn into office on Friday, February 7, at the Jubilee House. Over the years, allegations have persisted that certain players are imposed on national team coaches, raising questions about transparency in selection.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Osei Palmer advised the Buem MP to take an active role in ensuring fairness in squad selection. He also recommended that the minister appoint a technical expert to assist him in understanding key aspects of player selection at the national level.

"I have known Kofi Adams for some time now. He is mostly quiet, but you wouldn’t want to push him. I am confident he will deliver as Sports Minister," Osei Palmer stated.

"He must scrutinize every Black Stars call-up. I know he is not a technical person, but he should get someone to assist him technically to understand these things," he added.

Meanwhile, on his first day in office, Adams met with the leadership of the GFA on Monday, February 10, to discuss key football-related issues.

The Black Stars will regroup next month for Matchday 5 and 6 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
