AFC Bournemouth forward, Antoine Selorm Semenyo has admitted that, there's so much pressure playing for the Ghana national team reminiscing what happened at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 25-year-old is an English but has a Ghanaian descent and agreed to switch nationality and play for the Black Stars few years ago.
He made his debut in a 3-0 win over Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and has since made 25 appearances for the senior men national team.
He was part of the 2022 World Cup squad and also featured at the 2023 AFCON held in Cote D'Ivoire.
Reflecting back on what happened at the last Mundial, the versatile attacker agreed with the Ghanaian football fans who weren't happy with their performance in Qatar and added they had a very strong squad so expectations were very high and that brought so much pressure on them.
"Pressure. It felt like pressure, to be honest. There’s a lot of pressure from the fans since we’ve got a good team, and we have to perform well. I agree with them; it is a very good team, so there is a lot of pressure associated with it. I think we needed to beat Uruguay to get through. Obviously, we lost. It was just frustrating."
He will hope to make coach Otto Addo's squad for next months' FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Antoine Semenyo is currently in the form of his life having tallied 9 goals and 4 assists so far in all competitions this season
