Ghana international Antoine Semenyo scored a brilliant goal to help Manchester City to clinch their eighth English FA Cup title after a narrow win over Chelsea in the final.

Semenyo produced a moment of individual genius to settle a tight FA Cup final as Manchester City beat Chelsea at Wembley.

The showpiece had largely been a disappointing non-event until Semenyo broke the deadlock brilliantly with an insane strike in the 71st minute of the game.

Erling Haaland, had worked tirelessly with little service, but it was his cross that Semenyo met on the run with a perfect right-foot flick across Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez.

It was out of context with what had gone before, but was enough to secure City victory as they added the FA Cup to the Carabao Cup won against Arsenal, also ending a run of successive final defeats against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

For Chelsea, it meant the disappointment of a record fourth successive FA Cup final defeat to end their chances of silverware this season.

Semenyo, who arrived at the Eithad Stadium outfit from AFC Bournemouth in January, has now clinched two titles with Manchester City after EFL Cup triumph.

The 26-year-old ended his campaign in the FA Cup with three goals and two assists in 5 matches for Bournemouth and Manchester City.

He becomes the fifth Ghanaian footballer to win the English FA Cup title after Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Daniel Amartey, and Jeffrey Schlupp.

Semenyo has been monstrous in this season’s campaign by netting 20 goals and providing six assists in 46 matches across all competitions.
