The newly-promoted Italian Serie A outfit have expressed interest in signing the budding talented forward on a season-long loan deal.

Italian side US Lecce have opened discussions with AS Roma over the possible loan transfer of Ghanaian youngster Felix Afena-Gyan in the ongoing summer transfer window.

AS Roma are reportedly considering loaning out the 19-year-old centre-forward for regular playing time to aid his development.

The Sunyani-born has been struggling to break into the starting line up of Jose Mourinho's team despite his enormous qualities. He has been climbing off the bench to enjoy minutes.

Afena-Gyan is rated among the best youngsters in European football following his exploits at AS Roma after bagging a debut brace against Genoa in November 2021.

He has made 20 appearances for AS Roma in all competitions this season so far with two goals to his credit, since his promotion to the senior team in October 2021.

The 19-year-old honoured Ghana's invitation to feature in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria last month. Earlier the year, he turned down a call-up to play for Black Stars at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

He scored his debut goal for the Black Stars of Ghana against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Afena-Gyan joined AS Roma from Ghanaian lower-tier side EurAfrica Academy for an undisclosed fee.
