As part of the preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Black Stars will play two international friendlies against Austria on Friday, March 27, 2026, and take on Germany in their second friendly on Monday, March 30.

Agbasi arrived at Hearts of Oak on a free transfer prior to the commencement of the 2025–26 season’s campaign after recovering from a serious leg injury.
He became an instant performer and has conceded only three goals in 9 league appearances for the Phobians while he deputizes for Black Stars no.1 Benjamin Asare at Hearts of Oak.
The Hearts of Oak duo will be part of the Black Stars squad for the friendlies with Switzerland-based goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi.
Otto Addo and his backroom staff will, in the coming days, name their squad for the Austria and Germany friendlies, with the match against Mexico also adding to the series of test matches lined up ahead of the global showpiece to be hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the United States in the summer.
The Black Stars are paired with England, Croatia, and Panama in Group I, while Austria faces world champions Argentina, Algeria, and Jordan in Group J.
The West African nation will open their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, in Toronto, followed by matches against England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia on June 27, 2026.
