Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu says he has no problem with the Ghana Football Association’s decision to expand the Black Stars technical team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The GFA last week added five experienced professionals to the technical set-up as preparations step up for the global tournament.

French coach Alain Ravera and Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren have joined the Black Stars as assistant coaches. Spanish coach José Daniel Martínez Alfonso has also been brought in to strengthen scouting and match analysis.

In addition, Carlos Lozano Romero has returned as team physiotherapist after working with the Black Stars at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. British-born Ghanaian performance coach Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi completes the new additions.

Speaking to Kessben FM, the former Udinese player and FIFA U-20 World Cup winner said the FA deserves support rather than criticism.

“The Ghana FA knows the kind of meetings they held with the coaches and management, and the type of reinforcement needed,” Badu said.

“If they have decided to strengthen the technical team, we have to support them. With a few months left to the World Cup, this is not the time to criticise the expansion. As Ghanaians, we need to be patient and back the team.”

The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, with 48 teams taking part. Ghana have already secured one of Africa’s nine automatic qualification spots.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L, where they will face England, Croatia and Panama.
