Spokesperson of GFA, Henry Asante Twum has disclosed that, there could be some star members of the Black Stars who could join the U-23 squad for the AFCON next month but will be subjected to approval by Chris Hughton.

The Black Meteors are in serious preparations towards the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations which will be held in Morocco later next month and will hope to at least make a final three finish to book a place in the next Olympic Games in Paris next year.

They completed a 2-1 on aggregate win over Algeria in two ties to book a spot for the competition- in a game Fatawu Issahaku was really on cloud nine, having scored in both legs to cruise the team in the main tourney.

Ghana is currently placed in Group A alongside host nation Morocco, Guinea and Congo.

Speaking ahead of the competition, the renowned sports Journalist stated some players of the senior national team who are still eligible to feature for the Meteors could be invited as the hope to finally end their almost 20 year abeyance from Olympics football.

"The two coaches will decide on it. Ibrahim Tanko will need to tell us his plans and which players he intends to take for the U23 tournament from the Black Stars."

"Once the players are made known to the FA, we will continue the conversation with Chris Hughton for his approval. If you will remember during Ghana v Algeria some players such as Issahaku and Ernest Nuamah who were eligible for U23 were permitted to play."

"Kudus Mohammed, Kamaldeen, and Joseph Paintsil among others are all qualified players who can play for the U23 in Morocco, should the request come and Chris Houghton gives the permission, they will all be eligible to feature for the Meteors."

The competition will commence on June 24, 2023.
