Ghana boss Otto Addo has warned his players to remain vigilant and disciplined despite being favourites for Thursday’s World Cup qualifier against Chad.

The Black Stars top Group I with 15 points from six games, three clear of Comoros and five ahead of Madagascar, but Addo insists there’s no room for complacency.

“Sure, sure. I mean, like I said, we’re very close, but we’re not there yet,” he told reporters. “I just try to emphasise to the players that they have to work even harder now. Nobody should relax or think it will go by itself. It’s hard work, hard work.”

The former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach underlined the importance of maintaining intensity, saying sharpness would be key if Ghana are to edge closer to a fifth World Cup finals appearance.

“We have to be very, very sharp and focused and push each other,” he explained. “And then I think if we do so, we will get the right results. I like it this way rather than the other way around.”

Victory in N’Djamena would strengthen their grip on qualification and leave Addo’s men within touching distance of sealing a place at the 2026 mundial.
