Ibrahim Saanie Daara, an experienced Ghanaian football administrator and now Senior Media Officer at CAF, has hugely criticized the Sports Minister Hon. Kofi Adams for the timing of release of the Black Stars budget and has told him to keep his mouth shut and allow the players to focus.
The Black Stars failed to deliver against the whipping boys in Group I after being held by Chad to an embarrassing 1-1 draw last Thursday afternoon in N’Djamena in round 7 of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
Ghana despite a sloppy start managed to find their rhythm very quick and opened the scoring account in just sixteen minutes into the game. With just a minute to go, out of nowhere came the equalizer for ‘Les Sao’ who scored through Young Africans attacker Celestine Ecua.
Obviously, the Ghanaian football fans including lots of pundits in the country were not happy at all with the performance and have heavily criticized as they believe it has started casting doubts around Ghana’s qualification chances.
However, many also believe the timing of the release of the national team budget didn’t really help our guys to concentrate on the game and one of which is former GFA Spokesperson Saanie Daara, who perfectly believes it’s the main reason and has urged the Sports Minister to stay mute.
"Which military has been so FOOLISH in the history of mankind to announce the reduction of the salaries of the soldiers on the eve of war?"
"The Sports Minister [Kofi Adams] should SHUT IT! He should let the boys focus on the World Cup qualifiers.
“A lot of people in the Sports Minister’s own party (NDC) are disappointed with the timing of the release of the Black Stars budget.”
He further went hard on the performance which he wasn’t happy with and stated most of the players are below the level of the senior national team.
"I wasn’t happy with what I saw from the Black Stars yesterday against Chad. I still maintain that a lot of the Black Stars players don’t deserve to be in the team," he told Sporty FM.
"Ideally, a Black Stars midfield shouldn’t have some of the players currently there. We used to have Essien and others in that position," he added.
The team returned home last night to begin preparations towards the game against Mali on Monday, September 8, at the Ohene Gyan Stadium at 19:00GMT.
