Former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufour has cautioned the team to play as a team as he urged them to eschew selfishness from the game.

Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in the group stage of the mundial.

Ghana is expected to submit their provisional squad to FIFA today.

According to Kickgh sources, Majeed Ashimeru, Jeffrey Schlupp, Salis Abdul Samed have been named in the squad.

Moreover, Hearts of Oak marksman Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Asante Kotoko shot-stopper Danlad Ibrahim are the only locally based players in the squad.

Ghana will hope to improve on their best placed finish of quarters, as they make it to their fourth World Cup finals.

The former Asante Kotoko board chairman, Kufuor has advised the players to play as a team at the mundial.

"I support the Black Stars and I give the team all the blessings. I can pray for the team to win and perform to the honour of our nation.

"I believe the boys can do it, they have exposure internationally and so stage fright should not be part of this tournament. What is left is for our side to play as a team’’

"A lot of times we tend to be selfish with our play so how we get the team to think together on the pitch, how we pass towards goal and to have the strength," he concluded.
