Kim Grant, former Black Stars striker and head coach of Hearts of Oak has buttered his opinions regarding the current state of the Black Stars, calling for the immediate dismissal of head coach Otto Addo following the team's poor performance in the 2025 Afcon Qualifiers.
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Afcon for the first time in 21 years, securing just three points from their six matches in Group F, which included Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
Their latest setback came in their last group match when they suffered a 2-1 defeat to third placed Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Grant, echoing the frustrations of many fans, believes a change in leadership is necessary to halt the senior national team's decline.
In a Facebook post, Grant who currently holds a dual roles as Director of Football and head coach at the non-league Czech side' Prague Raptors said Otto Addo's "Tactical decisions highlight a glaring lack of experience, with an inability to implement a coherent playing system that suits the players' strengths. Instead, we see square pegs forced into round holes, wasting talent, and failing to maximize potential on the pitch.
"Coaches in the past were dismissed for far less, yet this current technical staff is being shielded by an inner circle, even after this disastrous AFCON qualification campaign. The narrative to retain them for the World Cup qualifiers is outrageous and risks further embarrassment. It’s time to stop protecting mediocrity, banish egos, and demand accountability."
