With the four-time African champions failing to secure qualification to the next AFCON tournament, the ex-Ghana international believes the country will replicate this same setback for the Mundial if the manager is not sacked
Former Black Stars forward Kim Grant has said Ghana ''risks further embarrassment'' in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns if coach Otto Addo and his entire technical staff are maintained.
After missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be staged in Morocco next year, the 49-year-old former Borussia Dortmund talent nurturing gaffer has come under-siege with public outcry calling for his head.
That notwithstanding, the under-fire manager has overwhelmingly received massive support from those in charge of his appointment to hold onto his job albeit the incessant calls for his dismissal.
This, the former Hearts of Oak gaffer feels the tough-talking tactician is being treated with kid gloves by the Ghana FA as he was left lamenting on his Facebook page: ''Coaches in the past were dismissed for far less, yet this current technical staff is being shielded by an inner circle, even after this disastrous AFCON qualification campaign.
“The narrative to retain them for the World Cup qualifiers is outrageous and risks further embarrassment. It’s time to stop protecting mediocrity, banish egos, and demand accountability. We see square pegs in round holes, wasting talent and failing to maximize potential on the pitch.”
