Ghanaian young midfielder Taufik Seidu made his first-ever appearance for Atletico Madrid against FC Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday evening.
Taufik Seidu, who has been traveling with Diego Simeone’s side since the start of the 2025/26 season, finally made his awaited debut for the Rojiblancos in a painful home loss to the league leaders.
FC Barcelona extended their lead on top of the La Liga table after securing a 2-1 comeback away win over Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Metropolitano.
Madrid took the lead through a superb finish from Giuliano Simeone in the 39th minute but the visitors leveled the score before the break courtesy of Marcus Rashford’s fine strike in the 42nd minute of the game.
The home side played the entire second half as a manless side after Nico Gonzalez was sent off for fouling Lamine Yamal on the stroke of halftime.
Despite being reduced to ten men, Atletico Madrid stood resolute until substitute Robert Lewandoswki snatched the winner in the 87th minute to hand Barcelona all the maximum points.

Seidu, who is one of the rising stars in European football at age 18, was handed his debut by Diego Simeone when he introduced the Ghanaian teenager as a replacement for Clément Lenglet in the 68th minute of the game.
He has been with the Atletico Madrid Academy since leaving the shores of Ghana with his parents at age nine.
Seidu is eligible to represent Ghana at any level despite playing for Spain at the U15, U16, U17, and U18 levels.
