In his State of the Nation address, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo voiced his unwavering belief in the potential of the Black Stars to reclaim their former glory, despite facing challenges in recent campaigns.
Reflecting on the team's disappointing performances, which saw exits at the group stage in both the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the World Cup, President Akufo-Addo emphasized his optimism for the team's resurgence.
"I have no doubt that the Black Stars will rise up and make us proud again," declared President Akufo-Addo.
Despite finishing at the bottom of their group in both the 2021 and 2023 AFCON tournaments, as well as their group stage exit in the 2022 World Cup, the President remains steadfast in his belief that with the right measures in place, the national team will bounce back.
The Black Stars are set to resume their quest for qualification in the 2026 World Cup with a doubleheader against Mali in June, providing an opportunity for redemption and a fresh start towards regaining their prominence on the international stage.
