In his recent State of the Nation Address, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo applauded the impressive performances of the Black Queens, highlighting their often overlooked achievements compared to the Black Stars.
Acknowledging the team's commendable run of ten matches without defeat, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the resilience and dedication demonstrated by the Black Queens, despite receiving lesser attention.
"Mr. Speaker, the senior Women’s team, the Black Queens, who do not receive the same level of attention as the Black Stars, have been performing admirably," remarked President Akufo-Addo.
Encouraging national support for the team, the President rallied Ghanaians to stand behind the Black Queens as they prepared to face Zambia in the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games.
"Even though they narrowly lost to Zambia in the first leg of the Olympic Games qualifiers, let us extend our best wishes to them for the second leg in Lusaka tomorrow, and hope they provide us with a reason to celebrate," added President Akufo-Addo.
With the Black Queens seeking to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Zambia, President Akufo-Addo's call for solidarity underscores the significance of the upcoming match as the team aims to progress to the final round of qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
