Coach of Dreams FC, Winfred Dormon, has described Sunday’s Ghana Premier League clash against Asante Kotoko as an emotional encounter, calling it a “father and son affair” as he prepares to face his former mentor and current Kotoko interim coach, Abdul Karim Zito.
Zito, who previously served as head coach of Dreams FC, worked closely with Dormon for several years before recently taking over the reins at Asante Kotoko. Their upcoming meeting on opposite sides of the touchline adds a personal layer of emotion to an already crucial Matchday 31 fixture.
“The matchday fixture against Asante Kotoko is an emotional game, a father and son affair, and I am going to play against one of my directors,” Dormon said in the build-up to the game. “But the team is ready on Sunday.”
Dreams FC, currently enjoying a solid campaign and preparing for the MTN FA Cup final, are aiming to finish the league season strongly. A positive result in Kumasi would be a major boost to their ambitions.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko, revitalized under the leadership of Abdul Karim Zito, are still in the race for the Premier League title and have already booked a place in the FA Cup final. The Porcupine Warriors are unbeaten since Zito's appointment and are eager to maintain their momentum.
