Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has reiterated the Black Stars' determination to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing the significance of the tournament for every player in the squad.

Semenyo, who played a key role in Ghana’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Chad on Friday, stressed that the team must approach every match with the same hunger and commitment if they are to secure a place at the next World Cup.

“I think for everyone in the team, you want to play at the World Cup. The World Cup is everything. We want to do everything we can to qualify,” Semenyo said after the match.

Ghana’s dominant win at the Accra Sports Stadium propelled them to the top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers, but Semenyo insists there is no room for complacency.

“It comes with all these games. We need to win the easy games; we need to win the hard games. We’ve done that today. Monday, we have to do the same. September, we’ll do the same, and then hopefully qualify,” he added.

The Bournemouth forward opened the scoring just two minutes into the match, setting the tone for a commanding display.

Goals from Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah completed the rout, giving Ghana a much-needed boost ahead of their next fixture.

The Black Stars now turn their attention to Monday’s clash against Madagascar in Morocco, where they will look to build on this momentum and strengthen their position in the race for a World Cup spot.
