The much-anticipated 2024 Ashanti Regional Inter Tribal Football Gala will officially be launched on Saturday, June 8, at the lslamic Education Unit, organizers have announced.
It is going to be the third edition of the tournament, established under the auspices of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Chief Zango and the various tribal cheifs, to promote peace and unity within the Zongo communities in the West African country.
The tournament started with 16 tribes, and was increased to 20 in the second edition but has grown steadily to attract other tribes taking number of partaking teams to 24 this year.
Saturday's launch will also see how match fixtures will be drawn for the tournament, which promises to be keenly contested at the usual venue of Aboabo no.2 Middle B Park.
Organizers of the competition, Chiefs and some key football officials are expected to attend the launch where the structure for the competition will be announced to the media and the general public.
The maiden edition saw Hausa beat Wangara 4-3 via penalty shootouts to win the first ever title of the competition.
Whiles Moshie defied all odds to win the last edition after overcoming Songhai in a pulsating final.
The tournament is expected to start on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
