Black Comets captain Abdul Aziz Issah is confident Ghana’s U-15 national team can build on their experience at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and perform better in future competitions.
The Ghanaian side made a strong start to the tournament, winning all five of their group matches, including convincing victories over Uzbekistan, Myanmar, Guam and the Bahamas before edging Kazakhstan 2-1.
Their impressive run was brought to an end by Paraguay in the knockout stage, while they also suffered a heavy defeat to Brazil in the Tier A Ranking Play-Offs before ending their campaign against Colombia.
Despite missing out on their ambition of winning the tournament, Issah believes the team can take valuable lessons from the experience and continue improving under their coaches.
“I believe that this group and a few more quality additions will do well in future competitions,” the captain said, expressing confidence in the potential of the squad.
He also acknowledged that Ghana had set out to win the competition but maintained that the players gave a good account of themselves.
“We are not going to rest at all, we shall continue to learn more from our coaches and continue to grow and develop,” he added.
The Black Comets put up a strong campaign against 189 participating nations, finishing with 8 wins out of 10 matches and scoring 44 goals and finished 7th at the World Cup.
