Danlad Ibrahim, the goalkeeper for the Black Meteors, expressed the team's dissatisfaction with conceding two sloppy goals in their Group A opener against Congo at the ongoing 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Sunday.

As they gear up to face the host nation, Morocco, in their second group game on Tuesday, June 27, Ibrahim spoke to the media on Monday afternoon, addressing the challenges that lie ahead.

Reflecting on the previous match, Danlad acknowledged the disappointment felt by the players regarding the defensive mistakes that led to the goals against them.

He recognized that such occurrences are part of the game and attributed them to the lack of experience in high-pressure situations among many team members. Ibrahim also stressed the importance of maintaining concentration throughout a match and the potential consequences of losing focus.

“After the game against Congo, all the players were not happy because of what happened and it’s normal. A lot of us have not got this kind of experience. I know what can come when you lose concentration at some point in a game,” he said.

“With the technical team, they will just bring everyone on board and know how to go in the next game.”

The match against Morocco is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm.
