Ghana's football commentary legacy is undeniably one of the richest in Africa. Football enthusiasts in the country can readily name iconic commentators who have excelled both domestically and internationally, earning admiration from many.

Since the 1950s, Ghana has produced numerous talented commentators. Names like Joe Lartey and Christopher Opoku, 'The Writer' Kwabena Yeboah, widely regarded as one of Africa's finest, CAF commentator Benjamin Willie Graham, Henry Asante Twum, and BBC's George Addo Junior, have all left an indelible mark on English football commentary in West Africa.

Among the emerging talents in recent years is Victor Kwawu, popularly known as 'Nukunu' or 'International.'

Victor Kwawu is considered one of the best and most promising English television and radio commentators in Ghana today. His vocal dexterity, calm demeanor, and thorough research-based commentary set him apart, making him a favorite among fans at any match venue.

Kwawu, an alumnus of the University of Cape Coast, attributes his rise to fame to his natural talent, hard work, and humility. His ability to infuse statistics, historical perspectives, and carefully chosen words into his commentary makes him stand out.

The budding sports journalist has already covered some major tournaments, which have enriched his experience and credentials. In addition to commentary, he is a detailed sports analyst, writer, and anchor, making him a valuable asset in any newsroom.

Victor Kwawu, a protégé of Benjamin Willie Graham, has taken on lead commentator roles for significant events in Ghana. His notable assignments include the Africa Games for GBC, the BabyJet Africa U-16 Championship for SuperSport, the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship for Max TV, and the 2023 AFCON radio commentary for Asaase Broadcasting Corporation. He was also the lead commentator for numerous matches during the 2023–24 Ghana Women's Premier League season for StarTimes and Max TV.

As the Ghana Football Association and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) continue to sanction more tournaments locally and across the continent, it is hoped that Victor Kwawu will become a household name in the sports commentary ecosystem in the years to come.
