Head coach of Ghana Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren has heaped praises on his players after making it into the semi-final stage of the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana made it into the last four after beating Algeria 4-2 via penalty shootouts last Saturday in Berkane following a goalless draw in regulation and extra time.
The Queens were the dominant side in the game and made series of incursions but struggled to break into the solid back line of their Algerian counterparts even though they had a goal by Stella Nyamekye disallowed in the first half
Speaking in a post-match interview, the ex- Apollon Ladies gaffer praised the entire team stating it is the role each and every member of the contingent played that has gotten them this far
“Yeah, a lot of emotions, I would say, but most of all I'm happy for the players and for the other coaches, the staff, everybody that works so hard around the team. They're doing a great job. It's so many that deserve this victory. So I'm really happy for them and proud of their girls. I really like the hard work that they're putting in today, it's amazing.”
The Black Queens will face host nation Morocco in the semi-final on Tuesday, July 22, 2025
