Head coach of Ghanaian champions Police Ladies FC, Yusif Basigi has been working harder to get his girls very fit and ready for the WAFU Zone B Champions League qualifiers stating their only target is to win their group even it will be a very tedious task for them.

The ‘Service with Integrity’ outfit emerged champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Women’s Premier League last season for the first time and are set to represent the country in the WAFU Zone B qualifiers where they will hope to punch their ticket for next season’s CAF Women’s Champions League.

With this, the team is being refurbished as they look to make a huge mark in their first ever Africa campaign with the appointment of experienced gaffer Yusif Basigi and some few signings notably Danish international Laura Juul Hansen - formerly of FC Nordsjaelland.

Speaking on their preparations so far, the 53-year-old said they have found themselves in a very difficult group with Nigerian side Bayelsa Queens proving to be a hard nut to crack in recent years but will play their hearts out to win the group and secure qualification to the main event.

“We are not underestimating or overestimating anyone because every club earned their place,” he told Graphic Sports.

“But our focus is to take each match as it comes and fight for the ultimate. We are going to Cote d’Ivoire to qualify; that’s the mindset. We are not underestimating or overestimating any opponent because they all deserve to be here.

They have been drawn in Group B alongside Nigerian giants Bayelsa Queens, ASKO Kara from Togo and Benin’s Sam Nelly.

The qualifiers will be played between August 23 and September 4, 2025, at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
