The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the appointment of Salifu Fatawu as the new head coach of the national U-15 boys’ team, effective Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Fatawu, a highly respected tactician, boasts a strong coaching résumé. He previously guided Kpando Heart of Lions to promotion from the Division One League to the Ghana Premier League and also contributed to Ghana’s youth football success.
He served as assistant coach to Karim Zito during the Black Satellites’ triumph at the 2020 U-20 WAFU Championship in Benin, followed by their historic victory at the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Mauritania. Fatawu also worked closely with Desmond Ofei during his time with the national youth setup.
As head coach of the U-15s, Fatawu will be supported by an experienced backroom staff. Former Asante Kotoko captain and current Heart of Lions deputy coach Daniel Nii Adjei joins as assistant coach, while Mubarak Gardo, head coach of Thought FC, takes up the role of Athletic Coach.
The technical team is further strengthened by:
-
Raphael Tommy – Welfare Officer
-
Issah Abdullah – Equipment Officer
-
Dr. Akwasi Duah – Team Doctor
-
Solomon Adu – Physiotherapist
The GFA believes this blend of experience, technical know-how, and support expertise will be pivotal in nurturing Ghana’s next generation of football stars through the U-15 setup.
