Aduana FC produced a strong second-half display to defeat Young Apostles 3-1 in matchweek 33 of the Ghana Premier League at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday afternoon.
Midfielder Patrick Mensah was the star of the show with a brilliant brace, while forward Bright Adjei added a late goal to seal an important victory for the Ogya Boys.
Aduana FC started brightly and took the lead in the 21st minute through Patrick Mensah after dominating possession in the early stages of the game.
The visitors responded well and found the equaliser in the 36th minute when forward Huseine Issah notched to bring Young Apostles level before halftime.
After the break, Aduana FC increased the pressure as they searched for another goal. Their persistence paid off in the 75th minute when Patrick Mensah converted from the penalty spot to restore the home side’s advantage.
Young Apostles’ problems worsened after 19-year-old defender Samuel Amankwah was shown a red card, leaving the the ‘Agya Na Ɔwɔ Tumi’ (Young Apostles) with 10 men for the closing stages.
Aduana FC continued to control the game and eventually grabbed a third goal in the 89th minute when Bright Adjei finished off a fine attacking move to put the result beyond doubt.
The Ogya Boys dominated the match with 61 percent possession, 11 shots, five shots on target and four corner kicks, while avoiding any yellow or red cards.
Young Apostles managed only five shots and two on target, with one corner kick, while receiving two yellow cards and one red card.
The victory moves Aduana FC up to fourth place on the league table with 50 points, while Young Apostles remain 15th with 42 points as the season heads into its final stages.
