FC Samartex returned to winning ways after beating Hearts of Oak 1-0 in their Ghana Premier League week 33 match at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday afternoon.


Striker Gabriel Osei scored the only goal of the game with a thunderous strike in the 54th minute to give the Timber Giants an important home victory.


The first half was closely fought, with both teams struggling to create clear chances. After the break, Samartex found the breakthrough when Gabriel Osei nicked home to put the hosts ahead.


Hearts of Oak pushed forward in search of an equaliser and created several chances, but Samartex’s defence stayed strong and stopped the Phobians from scoring.


The match ended 1-0 in favour of Samartex, who moved up to fifth place with 50 points after 33 matches.


Despite the defeat, Hearts of Oak remain third on the league table with 51 points.
