Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum says his side is fully prepared and determined to make Ghanaians proud as they gear up for the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.
The team concluded their training camp in Accra on Sunday and will travel to Côte d’Ivoire for the tournament, which kicks off on Saturday, September 20.
Speaking to the Ghana Football Association’s official website, the former Asante Kotoko manager expressed satisfaction with his squad’s preparations and commitment.
“We have had a very productive camp, and the players have shown great commitment. We are going to Côte d’Ivoire determined to compete and make Ghanaians proud,” Ogum said.
Ghana have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Togo, and Niger. The Black Starlets will open their campaign against Togo on Saturday, September 20, at 18:00 GMT, before facing Ivory Coast on Tuesday, September 23, also at 18:00 GMT. They will wrap up the group stage against Niger on Friday, September 26, at 15:00 GMT. All matches will be staged at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.
The WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship doubles as a qualifier for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, with the top-performing teams earning tickets to the continental showpiece.
As two-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, the Black Starlets will be hoping not only to qualify but also to reassert their dominance in African youth football.
